PRICES OF TIMBER SHARES,

In the share list for June Ist, 1920, issued hy the Christchurch Stock Exchange appear many items of particular interest—one might call it the Financial barometer. Timber: It is interesting to note that the shares of three, companies quoted have risen during the last twelve months. Kauri Timber Company’s 33s fully paid-up shares' were worth 34s a year ago, while at J une Ist 1920, they were quoted at 42s (id. The same company’s share of 3Js with 18s liability, was worth 10s 3d twelve months ago, while at Juno Ist 1920, tin? quotation had risen to' 22s 6d. The last dividend was 10 per cent. Reserves equal 35 per cent, of the paid-up capital. In the Leyland-O’Brien Company the value of the shares has risen from 27s 6d to 32s (id, while the reserve fund stands at £69,649, only £351 short of being equal to the total paid-up capital, £70,000. The Great Western Timber Co. Ltd., is being formed to work the finest iorests in New Zealand, and under the most favourable conditions.
