LATE LOCALS.
Ac a special meeting of the Westland Charitable Aid Board held this afternoon there were present Messrs Wild (Chairman), Breeze, Blank, Evans and Duff when a- deputation from Ross residents was received. After hearing the deputation it was resolved to forward the following telegram to Dr Valintino of the Health Department, Wellington—At a special meeting of the Board held to meet deputation from Ross it was resolved to agree to appointment of Doctor at Ross at a salary of £4OO per annum awl free house and 'private practice. If Minister approves please endeavor to procure Doctor. The need is urgent . At present there is only one committee of the House in existence—the Printing and Debates Committee—and this committee was set up as a matter of urgency to deal with the circulation of “Hansard.” On this matter the commitee slioiud be in a position, to report in a few days, and a lively debate may be expected. Members are extremely jealous of their privileges of circulating “Hansard” free among as large a number of their supporters as possible, and those who value the privilege most are those resident at a distance from Wellington, where the Press reports of their speeches are of little - value to them. If the committee reports in favour of a reduction of circulation, it is certain that the question will be defeated and possibly the Minister wil not he able to carry a resolution for reduction. There would he no such demand made but- for the fact that the supply of paper fo rtiio Printing Office is insufficient and precarious.
