GREY BARBOR BOARD

At last night’s meeting of the Greymoutli Harbour Board the following reply was received from the Hon W. F. Massey to the Board’s questions respecting the Government’s proposals in regard to the Board: — 1, Cnown Law Draftsmen will prepare necessary Bill. . 2 Back accounts duo to Government will be tacked on to loans. 3.—Board will have no power to charge terminals. 4—Annual subsidy is intended to he fixed amount not exceeding £15,000. s.— Crown’s proportion of special rate cannot bo treated as a loan, but will be diverted towards payment of kiterest and sinking fund. A letter was also received from the Prime Minister stating that the subsidy could not be increased £IB,OOO per annum for the Grey-Brunner railway. The Chairman said that they could no nothing in the meantime, and ho would movo that the Minister’s letters bo received. This was carried.
