Seddon M.P., lias refrom the Minister of Public Works, a reply regarding the question of improving Okarito Harbour, which was brought before Hon. J. G. Coates by a 'deputation at Hari Hari last May. to the effect' that blip Mffflistpr of to whpm the matter was referred, stated from reports obtained frpm the Marine Engineer that it was not considered advisable to spend money ip attempting works at the on trance of the rivor, Thfe statement concludes that the estimate of £15,000 mentioned by the deputation puts the question beyond the powers of the Marine Department.
