DEAIPSEY V. CARPENTIER
NEW YORK, July 8,
■Kearns, Curley, Carpentier, Desehamps and Brady held a conference with the aim of arranging a contest between Dempsey and Carpentier. The conference did not resalt in any decision, and it is virtually certain that no bout can be staged before 1921. The oustanding facts were as follows: Kearns said that Dempsey would fight in no place but the United States. Brady, who represents Cochrane, pointed out that the contract between Cochrane and Carpentier, .holds until the New Year, unless under Cochrane’s promotion he desires to stage the battle in Knrope.
Deselmmps said that Carpentier would gladly meet Dempsey in Paris or London in November or December.
Curley, who had arranged a bout between Carpentier and “ Battling ” Levinsky, for October, 1920, refused to release both men, although Kearns offered a handsopie bonus. Kearns said he would therefore await the outcome of the Levinsky battle before arranging for a bout between Dempsey and Carpentier.
