It is with regret that wte record the death of an old and esteemed townsman, Mr Thomas lioulahan, the wellknown storekeeper,which took place this morning about 1.30 o’clock. The de ceased had a very short illness. Last Sunday he took to his bed with the prevailing cold and not appearing to progress Dr Teichelmann was called down on Friday and treated him for an ordinary attack of influenza However ho took a had turn last night and tai - G d to rally, the end coming as stated Deceased was a native of Kumara and about 47 years of age. He is married, and leaves a widow and family of four sons and one daughter, the eldest bein" about 16 years of age. He has been resident in Ross from his young days and lias always identified himself with the town and district. He was captain of the Eire Brigade in which he took a very keen interest and had been a. member for many years. Tlie news of his sudden, death came as a great shock to the community which had no idea of the serious nature of his ilncss and the deepest sympathy will be extended to the bereaved widow-and family in their very sad loss. A brother 'Mr John Houlahan, is residing in the North Island, and there, is also ono sister.
