INTERNATIONAL COURT. LONDON, June 7. The obstacle which hitherto prevented the creatiem of an International Court of Justice has been overcome. The Jurists Advisory Committee of-the League of Nations, sitting at Hague adopted a plan by which Judges be selected by the Council and Assembly of the League of Nations, voting separately. If an agreement is not reached, provision is made for a joint mediation committee, or finally the filling up of vacancies by Judges already -selected. lhe result, which was impossible of attainment at the Hague Conference of 190< is only possible to-day by the existence of the League of Nations machinery. JAPANESE COMPETITION. NEWCASTLE, (July 9. Owing to serious competition of Japanese, Trades Union workers are seeking protection to the extent of £6 per ton. Mr Green (Customs Minister) is ascertaining the cost of production in Japan. Mr Greene declined to increase the price of butter from —/I to to 3/-, explaining that ho was shortly ’withdrawing butter from price fixing.
