PARIS, May 4.
Last June there died at Rennes Mme. Lelieere, wife of a prominent local business man. Nothing was suspected at tlie time and it was not till December that a Mme. Lebaid, with whomM. Jveliecre had been friendly accused the latter of having poisoned his wife.
A post-mortem has now revealed that death was due to a big dose of mereu.v but the greatest mystery still surrounds the affair. It is asserted that Mme Lebaid has accused M. Leliecre of murder out of spite at her having been ar rested on a theft charge at the instigation of her former admirer. She declares that one day M. Leliecre showed her a powder saying: “This is to | finish off m y wife. You do the same ; with your husband.” I Later, in Paris, Mme. Lebaid is s'.id to have declared to some neighbours: “J soe that the wife of one of my friends at Rennes has died. I should not be surprised if my friend had poisoned her. X am a fatal woman.
