A.LABOUR REMEDY. LONDON, June 24
At the British Labour Conference at Scarborough, the Irish question was again discussed. First a resolution for self-determina-tion for Ireland was proposed. Then there was an amendment to give Ireland home rule within tho Empire. The amendment was defeated.
Then the resolution favouring tho Irish people having the absolute right to decide their own form of Government was carried by ft large majority of the Conference.
SINN FEINERS SHOT London, Jude 24
Considerable forces of troops have reached Londonderry, easing the situation there. looting have decreased. Arrangements have been made to accommodate (in additional 4000 soldiers. Stern measures were adopted in the evening. The troops fired machine guns at Sinn Feinors, whose snipers were perched in trees. It is believed 15 Sinn Foinera were killed. Some women standing m their doorways were shot dead, whilst many others were wounded. The gas supply was stopped at five in the morning, More people ventured into the streets to-day' Several more deaths occurred from random shooting. There have been many minor outrages throughout the country, including the burning of another barrackß, Cardinal Logue, speaking at Dublin, said ho had received a warning that the time had been appointed for bis death. He was thankful, because it gave him time to prepare. He had never been a politician, and had never said a word to offend anybody—whatever his religion.
