WEDDING BELLS.
A popular wedding took place on Wednesday afternoon at St Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Hokitika, the Rev. P. B. Fraser, M.A., officiating, when Mr James Phillips of Ruatapu, son of Mr J. Phillips of Colac Bay, Sotnhland, was united to Christine, daughter of Mrs James Henderson, of Lake Mahinapua. The bride was given away by her brother, Mr W. Henderson. She wore a white crepe de chine, with sleeves and georgette, with bead trimming, and also the,orthodox wr.eath and veil, carrying a bouquet of white chrysanthemums and narcissus, and maiden hair fern. Miss E. Grindlo of Blackball was the bridesmaid, wearing a lemon shade crepe de chine with black beaded trimming, and a ' black georgette picture hat. She also carried a bouquet of amethyst chrysanthemums and maiden hair ferns. Mr James Miller attended the bridegroom as best man. As the happy couple left the church the wedding march was played by the organist, Miss Macfarlane. A reception was subsequently held at Preston’s tea rooms where a large number of guests gathered and the usual toasts were honored. The happy couple were the recipients of many valuable presents, including a number of cheques. The bride’s present to the bridegroom was a set of military brushes ,and that of the latter to the bride a diamond cluster ring, and to the bridesmaid a Nellie Stewart gold bangle. The happy pair left by the evening train for Dunedin and Invercargill where the honeymoon will bo spent.
