At the Magistrate’s Court, Greymouth, yesterday, Archie Robertson was charged with stealing a double-bar-relled-gun, valued at £2O, the property of Thomas Godfrey, at Baxter’s Siding in March, 1919. After hearing the evidence, accused was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence. Bail was allowed at one surety of £SO, or two of £25. '
Twenty-four mild cases and one pneumonic case of influenza were reported to the Canterbury Health Office for the 24 hours ended noon on Friday. Details are: North Canterbury, 21 mild and one pneumonic, tlie latter being Rangiora. Mild cases: Christchurch 10 Sumner 6, Fernside, Weedons, Chaney's Belfast, and Waltham 1 each; South Canterbury 1 (at Timaru); Gre v 2 (at Blackball). Four cases of diphtheria were- reported, there being one ca°e each at Rangiora, Kjiikoura, Greymouth and Farofi,

Constable O’Grady, acting on information received from the Westport Police on Saturday morning at Greymouth arrested a mart named Thomas Augustus Griffiths, alias Upton, whilst alightingfrom a first-class /railway carriage' at Reefton railway station on Saturday. Griffiths was charged with the theft of £27 from the Grand Hotel, Westport, and though strongly protesting that the constable had made a mistake, it was found that he had the missing money in his possession. In his hip pocket he had a loaded revolver, and a second one unloaded, and was carrying 100 rounds of ammunition. He was brought up before a J.P. yesterday morning and remanded in custody to Westport.
