OBITUARY. GISBORNE, June 18. Obituary.—Mr E. H. Henderson, an old settler of Kick’s Bay. The deceased bad three brothers who were Admirals in the navy. RETURNED SOLDIERS’ PROTEST. HAMILTON, June 18. At a meeting of the executive of tho Waikato Returned Soldiers’ ’Association, the following resolution was carried: — "This meeting takes strong exception to tho failure of tho Prime Minister and Minister of Lands, to redeem the promises made to the conference of Returned Soldiers at Wellington, recently, relative to continuing the benefit of the Discharged Soldiers Settlement Act, and views with alarm that the provision of, the act should in any manner be cut down, in view of the many returned men, through late evacuation and other causes, who have yet had no opportunity of taking advantage of the Act, and also in view of the Prime Minister’s definite promise on two occasions, that no curtailment would be made until every soldier had the opportunity extended to him.
