At the annual meeting of the Hank of New Zealand to-day the report ana balance sheet were adopted. .Supplementing his remarks, the Chairman (Mr Beauchamp) said the c-apital ai d reserve fund lately engaged the serious consideration of tlie Board, and tentative proposals were discussed with a view to securing the introduction of legislation during the ensuing session, which if given effect to, would be of mutual benefit to the Government and shareholders. He had no doubt if if were pssed by Parliament, in the form submitted by the Board, they would meet the approval of shareholders. There was no intention to alter the statute as lietween Government and shareholders. As a result of this announcement lie hoped the public would not get too exalted an idea of the value of shares.
