JOCKEY'S DISPUTE

GISBORNE, June 16. A sequel to the jockeys’ strike occur, erd on the Arahura, in the road-slcad last evening, when, as the result of actin by the ship’s firemen, four riders who were to take' part in' the Napier Park races on the 18th. A. Manson, B. Deeley, E. Lowe, and T. Close, and also S. Kriatzer, (racecourse detective), had to return by the tender without being able to proceed to Napier. The tender previously left the local wharf with passengers, including the jockeys, but previous to its departure, the load Manager of the Union Co. warned the riders that they might have to return.
Oh arrival at the Arahura, .ropresen. tatives of the firemen informed those aboard that the ship would not sail with the jockeys and Kraitzer. The five men therefore returned- to tile wharf, and the vessel left for Napier soon after.
