WAIROA HARBOR
LATEST ENGINEERING PROPOSALS. WAIROA, June 11. Messrs William Ferguson, (Wellington), Blair Mason (Dunedin), and Cy-
rus Williams, (Christchurch), the Engineering Commission to the Mail on Harbour 3 Board, have submitted a scheme of harbour works at Waikokopu. The cost of the first instalment would be £165,000, and the main scheme £268,01X1, a total cost of £433,600. If the main scheme were proceeded with, the first cost is estimated at. £333,000, a. saving of £IOO,OOO, and for that sum the hoard could obtain complete shelter for vessels of a draught of 38 feet. The l>oard has decided to ask My Blair Mason to state his terms for supervising the work. A committee was set up to consult with the Gisborne Board in regard to lands north of \Y aikokopu at present in the Gisborne rating area, and which, it is considered, should be in the Wairoa rating area, with a view to obtaining an amicable settlement.
