HOKITIKA SCHOOL-COMMITTEE
MONDAY, JUNE 14th, .1920
The Committee met at 7.30 p.m. Present—Messrs W. H. Shannon 'chairman), D. Stevenson, A. Aitken, F.'W. Feddersen, J. Lloyd, S. J. Preston and Rev. Purchas.
•'An apology was made for the absence of .Messrs Bruce and Richards. The minutes were confirmed and cutward correspondence approved. INWARD CORRESPONDENCE.
From School Committees’ Association, asking for particulars of committees amalgamated.—Received ; to he notified the local branch was practically a evad letter here. From High, Sch'ool Board, notifying Board was meeting on Wednesday: -Received. From J. J. Mclntosh, withdraving letter of complaint.—Received.
From Taradale Committee, conveying resolution in favour of action U> secure cheaper school books.—Received. From Rector, reporting average attendance was 347 out of roll of 381. During the month Mr McCullough and Miss Forsyth were absent owing to illness. Inspector McCaskill had visited the school, and also the Inspector cfHealth, who had enquired into the question of over-crowding.—Received.
The Visiting Committee (Mr Aitken) reported on a number of small matters requiring attention ; that the two sheltei sheds that had been erected were very fine structures for their purpose, and in one end was a room comfortably arranged for the cocoa supplies.— -Received. It was resolved to ask the children to contribute monthly to the .fuel fund. Accounts amounting to £26 os 2d were passed for payment. Messrs Feddersen and Stevenson wers appointed visitors for the month. The Committee rose at 8.15 p.m.
