TERMS OF SETTLEMENT. i AUCKLAND, June 8. | The strike settlement agreement ur-, rived at between the City Council and the Tramwiiymcn’s Union representa-: tives was submitted to a meeting of the Union this morning and approved. Tlie agreement says the Council re- , ,raided the action of the tramwaymen as a direct challenge, and accepted it as such. The question was considered one of due recognition of the Council’s authority. The officers of the Union ex., press regret for the action of the ' men. The agreement states:— “The men j hereby give, and the Council accepts, j an assurance that in future tile tramway service will be carried on m ac cordauce with the agreement under instructions by the Management. The Council has no desire to victimise the men, and on the acceptance of the settlement, will declare'that they are reinstated. Having regard to loss and inconvenience caused to the Council an public, the Council agree that the men return to work forthwith, but shall receive no pay for tlie time lost during the strike. 'Tlie men agree to pertorm ( all tramway duties, including I ' lCO l traffic, which may be allotted them. That settlement shall be operative forthwith, and its terms incorporated with the agreement existing prior to • 1 St ”vhen those terms were submitted to Mr Roberts, the representative of toe Transport Workers’ Federation , th° i Mayor intimated that they were final. | The tramway representative agreed to accept them.
