COMMERCIAL NEWS.

addincton stock market. a QUIET SALE. (3y Telegraph Special to Guardian.) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. . Messrs Matson and Co. report as follows regarding their stock sale yesterday:— Fat cattle.—A very large yarding, but the quality was much inferior to recent sales, except in a few cases. Prime cattle sold well, but unfinished sorts dragged. Extra steers sold to £29; prime, £22 to £25,; unfinished, £l4 10s to £l6; cows and heifers, £9 to £l2, and up to £lB 7s 6d for extra. Store cattle.—A medium yarding, practically all odd lots. Exporters were buying bulls and cows at low figures. There were no quotable, lines of young cattle sold. Forward conditioned cows made £5 to £7 and then £2 10s to £4. Store sheep.—A small yarding and market about the same as last week. Best wethers sold up to 29s lid, others from26s to 28s. Best young ewes up to 275, others 20s to 24s 6d. Hoggets from 15s fid to 20s; travelled and inferior sorts were all dull of sale. Fat sheep.—There was not such a large yarding as last week, but the market was firmer by 2s per head above last week’s quotations, a West Coast consignment making 47s to 51s. Would advise forwarding any fat sheep before the end of the month, as the commandeer ceases then.
