THE TRAM STRIKE. AUCKLAND, June 5
A downpour of rain in the early morning, accompanied by a stiong wind, made it exceedingly, uncomfortable for suburbanites. Large numbers were conveyed by vehicles of all kinds. A great many walked. There is no prospect of an improvement. The races have beei\ postponed till Monday.

A dense fog in the early morning made transport without trains uncomfortable, but on the whole the people are managing to cope with the emei,rency very well indeed A conference between tho Mapor and Roberts, secretary of the National Federation, continues. No information is obtainable.
