application wps objected to by the police. Senior-Detective Rawle, in opening the case for the police, stated that owing to the unavoidable absence of certain police officers, as witnesses, lie would ask for
ail adjournment of the case until July 9th.
All* Doogan, for applicant, objected to the adjournment, quoting different sections of thj); Act in support. After hearing argument, the Chairman ruled against the police, regretting that the Act was so worded as to leave him no option, hut stated tliSt the licensee was open to the severest censure, in the conduct of the house, and any infringment of the licensing laws will he more drastically dealt with. J. McFarlane, licensee of Rremmond’s Hotel, Kumaraj applied for a renewal of license for the above Hotel. Objected to by the police op. the grounds of the building being out of repair and unfit for occupation.—Adjourned for 3 mouths to allow time for improvements to be effected as ordered. E. A. Kirby, licensee of Hari Hari Hotel, application for a renewal. The police report called for various small improyoments, which were all boing attended to. —Adjourned tor 3 months to allow of improvements being effected. John Morresey, for license for a billiard room at Tekinga, 20 feet away from licensed premises.—Adjourned to 9tb July for production of plans.
