A time for Social Spirit. ItNvill be said on behalf of further wage advances that they are necessary to equalise the status of certain industries with others, but there will never bo a time when this will not be said. If social order is to he preserved and the common interests of all protected, it is time to have less said about individual rights, and more said about individual duties. The capabilities of a people for co-operative social life and development depend upon their recognition of obligations to promote the common welfare. If each individual will do his simple duty in aiding production, avoid, ing unnecessary consumption of goods known to he in short supply, and in paying his individual debts, the bank- j ing facilities will be ample.—American Banking Journal.
