SWAMP LANDS OF WESTLAND.
DRAINAGE POSSIBILITIES. Tlio Hon. J. G. Coates, Minister of Public Works, when here lately was interviewed by the Westland County to a comprehensive scheme for the drainage of the swamp lands of Westland. Mr Coates his now written to Mr Bruce County Chairman, as follows, indicating that the Minister has not lost any time over the matter: “With regard to the deputation which waited on me when recently in your district*, asking for Government’s assistance towards the cost of drainage in the Kokatahi and Kniterangi districts, I now have to state , that tho Hon. the Minister of Lands in reply to the, representations made % by me to him, informs mo that he is obtaining a report on the subject and will communicate with your t Council and the Chamber of Commerce direct thereon when report js to hand".”
