WEST COAST RUGBY UNION
The usual weekly'meeting of the West Coast Rugby Union was held last night at Grcymouth. A letter from the Ross Club was re-, ceived asking for rule books. The secretary reported that the books had been forwarded.
i It was resolved that the Union’s representative at-Hokitika he written to asking what was being done in regard* to a junior competition in the Southern division; how many teams had entered; were they drawing up fixtures, and if so asking them to forward the names of the committee carrying out the arrangements. It was resolved to inform the Southern Division that the' entrance fee was Senior clubs, one guinea; junior clubs 15s. Mr Lawn being requested to collect such fees and forward them to tlie secretary of this Union as early as possible. It was also decided to ask tho. Southern Divisipn to inform the Union if its suggestion to allow the winner of the Southern Division to play off with the Northern Division was agreeable to them.
Mr Perry (Wellington) was appointed to act- in conjunction with Mr J. F. Wilson as the Union delegates at the annual meeting, and the secretary was instructed to wire to the secretary of the New Zealand Rugby Union to this effect.
It was resolved that the action of the Postponement Committee in calling all matches off last Saturday be endorsed - It was resolved that in the event of. future postponements, that the date oi all fixtures go forward one week. It was resolved that in the event of tiie match with Buller being arranged for J une 3rd. lapsing, that Inangahua be wired to this morning asking if they will play at Grey mouth on this date, and failing either of the above proposals that the Union put on a game between Hokitika and Star seniors at Grey. With reference to a protest from the United Club, Reefton, to the Inangahua Sub-union, which was dismissed by the latter and ultimately forwarded to the West Coast Union it was resolved that the Inangahua Subunion be written to explaining that the AVest Coast Union considers that as the protest was against the breaking of their own by-laws, and not against the laws of the Rugby game, that they had no jurisdiction in tiie matter, which was purely a subject for the Inangahua sub-union to decide. The following are the fixtures for Saturday, May 29th: — Seniors —Hikitika v. United, at Hokitika, Mr L. Hills referee. Marists v. Stars, Victoria Park 3 p.m., Mr AV. Graham, referee. WELLINGTON, May 25. The Secretary of the Wellington centre of league football has received advice, that the test match between New Zealand and the English team will be played in Wellington on July 24th.
