STRATFORD ELECTION
CELEBRATING THE VICTORY. (Per Press Association.) STRATFORD, May 26. Robert Masters’ victory in gaining the Stratford scat was celebrated by a great social gathering and presentation of a gold watch and chain. Amongst the guests was Hon. W. D. S. MacDonald who, after referring to the Liberal Party’s record, declared the greatest need for New Zealand at present was strong virile men, to .help rebuild and reconstruct the country after the war, apd .Mr Masters, was such a man who ought jo attain to the highest Parliamentary rank.

He said lie believed the great majority of the people were for labour, though labour was unfortunate in some of its leaders. So far as disloyal labour was concerned tin- Liberal party did not want to have anything to do with them, lint to loyal labour, the Liberal party would he friends.
