I The Surgeon Superintendent of Grey River Hospital' reported as follows for the month of,April 1920:—Number of patients remaining from last month, 63, Hospital 28, 18 males, 10 females. lid (Building 35, 30 males, 5 females. Number admitted during month 37: Hospital 27, 18 males,- 9 females. Old Building 10, 9, males, 1 female. Number discharged during month 29. Hospital 21, 12 males, 9 females. Old Building 'S, 8 males. Number died during month 3 (2 males 1 female). Number remaining end. of month 69, Hospital 33, 24 males' and 9 females. Old Building 36, 30 males, 6 females. Ages of deaths 46, 9 and 31 years: Average patients per day 73 ; Average days per patient 21.69. We regret to record the death at Auckland Hospital on Tuesday last of -Hr W. H. Harris, the well known pioneer settler of Huhuka-Okuru district, South Westland. The deceased has been in indifferent health for many months past, and had gone north for a change and treatment some weeks ago, having passed through IT ok ft ilea on his way, accompanied by Mrs Harris. Mr Harris was one of the first settlers of the far south district, taking up land on the Haast beach and Turnbull river, making his home at the latter place. He leaves a widow and family of nine four sons {Noah, at Koiterangi, James George, and Joseph, in South Westland), and five daughters (Mrs Ocldestein of Auckland and Miss Mary, Nellie, May and Lillian Harris ■ residing in South Westland). Deceased was 74 years of age and his end was somewhat ; sudden, being caused b.v heart failure. ] South Westland residents especially will J regret the passing of a sterling pio- ! ncer. !
