ASSISTANCE TO POLAND. | AUSTRALIAN & N.Z. CABLE ASSOCIATION & RSUTEH.J (Received this day at 11.30 a.m.) LONDON, May 17. In the Commons, Hon Bonar Law j stated that in October 1919, when it ; was feared the Russian Soviet Government would attack the Russian border States, ..Poland ,asked for British assistance in military equipment. Owinn to our commitment elsewhere, Government was unable to give financial assistance, but offered to supply a quantity of surplus stores, if Poland undertook to bear the cost of moving an all transport arrangements. The oiler was accepted and the Polish Government was now shipping part ol tlie stores. Otherwise, no assistance ha been given to Poland.
