LATE LOCALS.
The euchre and dance in St. Mary’s Club Rooms last night was well attended. The ladies prizes were kindly dontcad by F. Schroder and Co., a in! the gents by tlie N.Z. Clothing Factory, Mrs A. Leslie was tlie successful Indy and Miss K. Freitas 2nd, Mr. J. Cahill won the gents and Mr M MeGlavin.. the 2nd'. After ■•■ upper a couple of pleasant hours were spent in dancing. Misses O. Breeze, and E. Reid supplied the music., The Club desires to thank both donors of the oven - ings prizes.
An Auckland youth went to tlie police station recently for a permit to buy ammunition for a- peariflc. At the Police Court subsequently Mr E. Wilson, S.M., was introduced to George Walker who sold the rifles at auction (without a permit") to James Hartley, Who came along for selling through Arthur’s auction agency (without n permit), and A..H. Jones made his bow as the auctioneer who sold (without a permit) to Joseph Murphy who bobbed up in court as a dealer who sold (without a permit) to the youth who had completed the circuit by contacting with the police. All the parties declared that they were ignorant of the law which required a permit for the sale of firearms and they were ordered to pay costs.
