The death took place yesterday at her residence, of Mrs Surgenor, wife of Mr Win. Surgenor, of Rimu, a resident of ; many years’ standing where she was a highly respected member of the community. She leaves a husband and ; family of two sons (one in Rimu and one in North Island), and a daughter residing in Perth, Westralia. The deceased had been ailing for some time. She was a native of Ireland and 74 years of age. The interment will be a "private one.
A popular scientific lecture will be given to-morrow (Friday) evening in the All Saints’ Schoolroom at 8 ’clock, by the Rev. Dr Holloway, entitled “The Life of a Plant.” The lecture will be illustrated by lantern slides, showing the microscopic structure of the chief parts of plants, and the development of plants from the embryo will also be described. The lecture will be given under the allspices of the All Saints’ Institute. All interested nre invited to be present.
