The billiard championship was characterised by exciting fluctuations. Thanks to a record break Smith had an early lead and was 1,088 ahead at the opening of tho fifth session. Then Faulkner in a seres of brilliant efforts, scored 1772 in ten consecutive hands. The performance was never equalled in a championship, and it enabled him to get a lead of 448. The present scores are Faulkner 6,001, Smith 5494.
