MINISTERIAL VISIT
MINISTER OF PUBLIC* WORKS
NEXT WEEK
Mr Seddon M.P., who arrived at Greymouth on Saturday night, and reached here this' afternoon, intimated that tins Hon J. 0. Coates, Minister of Public Works, would be visiting the Coast next week. Major Coates (bar to Military Cross) is also PostmasterGeneral and Minister for Defence in the Reform Government.
Mr Seddon stated Mr Coates would arrive on the Coast next Monday, coming over by special conveyance to Otira. It was very much regretted, said Mr Seddon, that the Hon Minister would not be able to carry out the full programme mapped out by the Westland County Council, as time would not permit for Mr Coates to go further south than the Inter-Wanganui district, so Hari Hari would be the point furthest south the Minister would be able 'to touch on the forthcoming tour. The member for Westland said he would cross over to Christchurch at the week end to meet the Hon Coates and come through with the Minister on Monday next. The programme as suggested by the Westland County Council would be followed with some variations as follows: — Monday: Leave Christchurch for Arthurs Pass. Pass through Tunnel to Otira; motor to Kumarn for night. Tuesday: Motor through Goldsborough, Stafford, Avahura Valley, (luncheon at Valley), Humphreys, Blue Spur, Kanieri to Lake Kanieri, and return to Hokitika. Deputations at night. Wednesday: Visit Kokatahi and Koiterangi, (luncheon at Kokatahi). Social evening at Hokitika. Thursday: Visit Rimu, Ross (lunch), Waitaha, Hari Hari. Deputations and Social. Friday: Return north to Greymouth.
