BOXING.
BLACKBALL TOURNAMENT.
The Blackball Boxing Association added another success to its tournaments last night, when a packed house filled the Blackball theatre, every available seat on the stage being occupied. The different bouts were got off to time, and though at times the audience were apj to he unduly demonstrative the evening’s programme was gone through without a-hitch, and the arrangements reflected great credit ou those who were responsible for the conducting of the tournament. The results were as follows: — FIRST ROUND. Bantam.—Dudley (Ahaura), beat O’Donnell (Greymouth). Clarke drew n bye. Feathers. —Moffatt beat Ibell. AY. McDonald (Blackball), beat Pearce (Grey). ' Lightweights.—“ Bull” Neilson heat Simpson; Nelson (Grey), beat Lewis. Welters Finijigan beat Rauatt; “Emerald” drew a bye. Heavies.—O’Connor heat Ned King. FINALS. Bantams—Dudley (Ahaura 8.1 v. ! Clark (Blackball) 8.2. Three two-min- { ute rounds. An extra round was ordered, but tlie referee was unable to separate tlie lads and called a. draw. Both contestants palpably tired and the decision was a correct one. ‘ Feathers;.—W. MacDonald (9.0) v. Moffat (8.3), three two-minute rounds. At the sound of the filial gong McDonald skied the towel, due to an in-
jury to one of In’s thumbs. Lightweights—“ Bull” Neilson (Blackball) 9.13 v. Nelson (Grey) 9.12. Three two-minute rounds, In the second round Nelson dropped his guard allowing “Bull” to swing heavily to tlie point, bring tlie Grey- . mouth lad to his knees. At the count of seven he attempted to rise, but fell back dead to the world for the full count. Welter.—“ Emerald” (Grey) 10.9., v. Finnigan (Ahaura) 10.9. Three twominute rounds. After a good go “Emerald” was declared the winner. Middleweight.—O’Donnell (Grey) 11-2 v. O’Connor (Grey) 10.13. Three 2minute rounds. O’Donnell was declared the winner. SPECIAL BOUTS. Flannigan (Ahaura) after a .fairly even fight up till the third round was • successful over Kells (Blackball). M’Donald (Blackball) beat Moore (Blackball), the former putting in a lot of good work in the fill] round. Moore I was willing enough, but seemed to tire towards the finish. O’Connor gained a close decision over Ned King. Mr J. Minehin officiated as referee and the majority of his decisions were well received.
