OBITUARY

The many friends of Mr Joseph Dolph, of Cowper Street, Greymouth, will regret to hear of his death, which took place on Thursday evening. Deceased, who had been suffering from illhealth for some considerable time, was able to move about as usual yesterday, and the end came rather suddenly, death being due to heart failure. Deceased who had reached the advanced age of 81 years, was born in Andeir, Switzerland. Emigrating to Australia in 18(51, lie was for nine years engaged on the Victorian goldfields. He then came to New Zealand, following his activities as a gold miner on the West Coast. After seven years of this kind of work lie established himself in business at Goldsborougli, at which place he conducted a store and kept the Post Office. Leaving Goldsborougli, deceased went to Hokitika in which town he resided for ten years. He came to Greymouth eighteen months ago, at which place he resided up to the time of his death. Deceased is survived by his wife, one son and two daughters, viz., Air J. Dolph, solicitor to the Public Trust, Christchurch; Miss li. Dolph, of the Bank of New South Wales,-'Wel-lington, and Sister M. Dolph of Greymouth. The sincere sympathy of a wide circle of friends will be extended to the bereaved widow and family in their sad and irreparable loss. The internment will be a private one.
