SAN REMO CONFERENCE

LLOYD GEORGE AND GERMANY. LONDON, April 23. ‘‘Le Matin’s” San Remo correspondent states that Hon Lloyd George, in an interview with American journalists, said he did not consider that Germany had violated the Treaty or shown
bad faith. . He did not conceal his view
that Germany’s request to retain an % army of 200,000 was not unreasonable. “Le Matin’s ” attitude is dangerour; for, if the Allies addressed a collective Note, Germany could point to Hon Lloyd George’s declaration, on the subject.
A DENIAL. SAN REMO, April 23. A high Italian personage categorically denies “Le Matin’s” statement that Hon Lloyd George and Signor Nitti. proposed to invite Germany to San Remo. AMERICA AND SAN REMO. WASHINGTON, April 23. It is announced that Mr Leland Harrison, of the American Embassy at Paris, is to be instructed to proceeu' to San Remo to join Ambassador John-, son at the Premiers’ Conference.
REPARATIONS COMMISSION. (Received this day at 8.40 a.m.) PARIS, April 25. With a view to fixing the German indemnity, the Supreme Council has decided that the Commission of Financial Reparation shall meet at Brussels at thejend of May. German suggestions will be invited and the Chancellor, Ministers of Finance, Interior and Foreign Affairs summoned to attend and discuss matters. Probably a demand will be made for a lump sum, or alternatively, payment of annually increasing instalments, as the revenues improve.
