LATE LOCALS.

Rev. Dr Holloway informs us that the collection at AH Saints’ Church on Sunday at the morning service will be donated to the War Memorial Fund.

What a Wnirarapn paper stigmatises as “a regrettable' sight,” was witnessed at Carterton when several youths were observed playing “two-up” in a main street at Carterton. It was stated to a New Zealand “Times” representative that “two-lip” schools flourish in anil around the vicinity of Wellington. Each Sunday a large number of young men journey a short distance from the city where the illegal game is played. The “school” referred to is said to be well organised and paid scouts are placed on vantage points to watch for tinpolice. Mr J. t>. Gray, Under-Secretary for External Affairs, is leaving by the Navua for Samoa in a few days. He is to be accompanied by Licut-Colonel M’Crista 11, of the Defence Ordnance Department, who is to organise the stores branch of the Samoan administration and instill the new stores staff in their duties. It is expected that this will be a work of some three months. The work of the stores branch will be to purchase and control all stores for Government institutions in Samoa, such as hospitals, Government hotel, and the constabulary. Mr D. G. Clark, Commissioner of Taxes, is also going to Samoa to assist in the reorganisation and classification of the Samoan Public Service. If you catch a cold, you c an> t help it. If you keep a cold its your own fault. “NAZOL” is a safe and certain cure, and gives immediate relief. 1/6.
