DRUIDS’ LODGE.
A 'eiy large gathering of Druids assembeld at the lodge room last evening, the occasion being the installation of Past Arch- Bro. W. Robinson as District President of No. 13 District, U.A. O.D. The ceremony was performed in a most impressive manner by P.D.P. Bro. J .Nimmo, of Brunner Lodge. Lodge Westland was also favoured with a visit from P.D.P. Bro. W. Murray, and P.A. Bro. T. Southwnite (Seddon Lodge), P.A.’s. Bro. Curtain and Harper (Brunner Lodge), P.D.P. Bro. A. J. Butler and Bro. Schroder (Pride of the West Lodge). An apology was received from Star of the West Lodge. At the conclusion of the ceremony, the Lodge adjourned to spend a social hour, during which P.D.P. Bio. W. Murray rendered a lengthy report of the business transacted at the recent Grand Lodge Conference, which was followed with interest by the brothers assembled.

Robinson, responded to by P.D.P’s. Bro Nimmo and Murray; “Westland Lodge,” proposed by P.A. Bro. Curtain, responded to by P. j A. Bro. Lock, A.D. Bro. Feddersen; • “Past District President, Bro. J. Niinmo,” proposed by P.A. Bro. F. Groufsky, responded to by Bro. Nimmo; “Absent Brothers,” proposed by D.P. Bro. Robinson; “The Ladies,” proposed by A.D. Bro. Feddersen, responded to by Bro. T. Lynch. During the evening songs were rendered by Bros. W. Shahd, C. Foote. P,A’s. Bros T. Southwaite and F. Groufsky. Occasion was taken to present P.A. Bro. J. Fox with a Past Arch Collar. P.D.P. Bro J. Nimmo, in making Ihe presentation, referred to the good qualities of Bro. Fox as isecretaiy of the Lodge, and other brothers expressed their appreciation of Bro. Fox as an officer of the Lodge. After the musical ceremony the function was brought to a close with the singing of Auld Lang Syne and God Save the King.
A telegram from Auckland states that seventy Territorials and Senior Cadets, for not attending drill, were fined sums ranging from £5 downwards. A whale 60 feet long and weighing 40 tons has been lying bn the beach at Napier for some days. The harbour Board’s dredge unsuccessfully attempted to tow it to sea on Wednesday. As the smell is becoming a nuisance, an attempt is to be made to blow it up and burn the remains.
Sir Joseph Ward, who has returned from Sydney in the best of health, will be the guest of the Government nt the functions connected with the Prince of Wales’s visit (says a Wellington Ik ess Association message). Sir Joseph will visit England after the conclusion of the Royal tour.
