CHRISTCHURCH, April 20. At a meeting of the Christchurch Branch of the New Zealand Labour Party held recently the following resolution was passed:— , “That the Secretary write to alt school committees in the electorate opposing the children taking any id the parade at the (so called) Royal Reception of the Prince on the. following grounds, i.e. It is our opinion, after due deliberation that N ew Zejilfind should bo the custodian of finer democratic ideals and the historical bittgrnpss apd facial feuds of Europe, associated chiefly with monarchy should be left in the northern hemisphere. This New Zealand in the Pacific seas must emerge from obsolescent monarchy and the Twilight of Kings into the sunshine of pure democracy and a Republican Commonwealth. This is the line of evolutionary progress.”
THE PRINCE AT SUVA. (Received this day at 11.30 a.m.) SUVA, April 21. The Prince entertained the Governor and leading residents at dinner aboard the Afterwards the Prince went out in a picket boat with a party in search of sport, equipped with hand nets, and got amon<' a small school of poisonous sea snakes. The Prinec netted two and shot one in the water with his riflo.
