IN IRELAND.
(Imperial News Service). WAR OFFICE STATEMENT. LONDON, April 19. The War Office states it is not increasing the total of the military forces in Ireland. The cavalry which is going replaces the disbanded battalions. REPORTED PLOT. LONDON, April 19. The “Standard” states the Government alleging a conspiracy was organised at Sinn Fein - headquarters in New York to start in June with simultaneous outbreaks of rebellion in Ireland, Egypt and Canada. The paper adds that conspirators were sent out to secure funds for the war chest and it was estimated to raise two millions sterling in America. SIR A. GEDDES. NEW YORK, April 19. Sir A..Geddes has arrived. In a statement to the press he said Britons now domiciled in Ireland, ought to stand aside and leave those living there to starve out their own problems. It also would be helpful if those in other parts of the world who are not Britons, but interested in Ireland would do likewise. LORD FRENCH’S DENIAL. (Received this day at 9.20 a.m.) LONDON, April 19. Lord French denies his resignation. A FURTHER RIOT. LONDON, April 19. There was a recurrence of fierce fighting in Londonderry all night long on Sunday. The police charged with bayonets, clearing the streets. Stone throwing crowds of Unionists and Republicans exchanged many shots. A young man was killed.
