COMMERCIAL NEWS.

ADDINGTON STOCK MARKET. A BIG ENTRY. (By Telegraph.—Special to Guardian.]; CHRISTCHURCH, This Day.

Messrs Matson and Co. report as follows regarding their stock sale yesterday:— Fat Cattle.—There was a big entry, and not withstanding the fact that exporters are not operating all good cattle sold well. Secondary sorts and cow beef showed an easing of £1 to £1 10s per head. This being the fair of tho year, graziers were anxious to quit many lines before they are ready. This, together with the anticipated drop in the prices of hides, was accountable largely for the weaker competition for anything but the best. Store Cattle.—There was a big entry, and owing to the dry period extending so late in the year, no one but the most sanguine could expect hut slackest of competition for all classes of store cattle with winter approaching. Fat sheep—Another very large yarding, and the quality was mixed. The market rates were firmer than lastweek. Best wethers sold to 365, others 43s 6dgood 33s to 38s 6d; medium medium 33s 6d to 375; lighter and inferior, 28s to 32s 6d; best ewes to 43s Gdffi; good 33s to 38s 6d; medium 26s to 31s 6d; others 18s 6d to 25s 6d. Lambs also firmed.

Store sheep.—There was a very heavy yarding and the market was decidedly easier for everything except good wethers. A large proportion of the yardjn« comprised southern ewes. Lambs were hard to sell. Best 2-tootli ewes sold to 28s; others, 21s to 25s 4d; S.M. ewes 26s sd; medium 17s to 21s lOd; others 14 s to 17s 6d; best wethers to 32s 3d; others 25 to 295; inferior 18s to 235.
