The adjourned meeting of the Chamber of Commerce will take place Tuesday night next. Messrs W. McKay and S on draw attention to their stocks of white and Shetland flannel. A meeting will be held at the County Chambers at 7.30 o’clock :o-night regarding Anzac Day commemoration. The death occurred at Reefton Hospital on Sunday, of Henry Ivinnard, a miner well-known at the Globe Aline, where he. had worked some three years. Mr Mentiplay, manager of the Bank of New Zealand’s Westport branch, is retiring on superannuation at the end of June, .after service extending over 36 years. Prior to joining the Bank of New Zealand, Mr Mentiplay was for nine, years in the service of the National Bank. Air Cameron, District Traffic Alanager of Railways, who was in town yesterday, met the representatives of the local committees with regard to train arrangements, which will be made ns convenient as possible for all concerned, in connection with the Royal visit.
A wedding was solemnised at Holy Trinity Church, Greymouth, on Saturday, April 3rd., when Rata Alice, third daughter of Air and Airs E. H. Becker, the well-known farmers of To Kinga, was united in the bonds if matrimony to Henry James, .second ”on of All's and Afrs A. Pugh of Greymouth, the Rev. Canon Carr being the officiating clergyman.

The Rev Hr Holloway celebrated a very pretty wedding at All Saints’ Church yesterday, when Mr Thomas Foster, of Ross was united to Miss May Gibb, daughter of Mr Ed. Gibb of South Westland. -Miss D. Gibb attended her sister as bridesmaid, while Mr llobert Foster was best man to his brother, the bride being given away by her. brother, Mr J. W. Gibb. The happy couple left by the evening train for their honeymoon. They have the best of good wishes of a large circle of friends for a prosperous future.
The popularity of St Mary’s Club Rooms was still further testified last night by the large attendance both at the tournament and later at the dance. Miss Aileen Kidd secured the lady’s lirst prize (a large tin of tea), and Mrs G. Hatch the second (a set of cups and saucers). The two bags of coal (kindly donated by Mr Thos Stopforth) went to Mr H. Holling while Mr W. Johnson secured the second prise (an open order). The Club supplied a plentiful supper, after which dancing wps kept up until midnight. Misses E. Heenan and O. Breeze kindly supplied the music and the duties of M.C. wore in the capable bands of Mr E. Bowden. The Club are “putting on” several of the new dances, a fact that met with the general approval of lovers of the light fantastic.
“It is a remarkable story I have fo, tell in connexion with this case,” Laid gub-luspector Hew, when a young man named Arthur Mansfield McClure was charged at the Magistrate’s Court, Christchurch on Saturday, with having at Waiau, stolen the sum of £lO Is Gd, the property of James 'VY'alser. Proceeding, the Sub-Inspector s tiled that, the accused who was occupying tlie same room as Walker at the Waiau Hotel took the money from the latter’s wallet and hid it beneath an outhouse. Later his conscience pricked him, and on returning: to where lie had placed the money he was surprised to find that onl}’ about a pound’s worth of silver was there, the balance, which consisted of notes, having mysteriously disappeared. The accused returned to the hotel and informed Walker. Together they returned to the outhouse and. on lifting up the floor they d‘scovered the notes, more or less oaten in a number of rat boles. As ’lie money had been recovered, the accused was let off with a fine of 10s.
