VIEWS OF ALPINE SCENERY.

There was a large attendance last evening at All Saints’ Schoolroom, when Dr E. Teiclielmann gave a most interesting exhibition of New Zealand Alpine views. In his opening remarks , the Rev Dr Holloway welcomed those present on behalf of the All Saints’ Radio’s Sewing Guild under whose auspices the social was being held. He congratulated the audience on having the opportunity of seeing such magnificent and unique-views of our New Zealand mountains, and reminded them that no one was better qualified to describe them than Dr Teiehelmami. Between sixty and seventy slides were then put through the lantern, tlie Doctor describing them and giving niany interesting details concerning the ice and snow-formations, glaciers, iccfalls, crevasses, etc., and speaking of tlie dangers anti excitements -attending the climbing of the high rocky faces. Some especially beautiful views of cloud effects, as seen in tlie Mt Cook region, were greatly admired-. The tremendous accumulations of icc and snow on th© eastern slopes of the mountain sides were well seen, especially in one picture in which the exposed edge of a snow neve was stated by the lecturer to bo no less than.' 140 feet in thickness. Among the many beautiful pictures, those showing icc “stalactites,” and the large mountain lilies and daisies, were especially admired.

A very hearty vote of thanks was accorded to Dr Teiclielmann at the close of his address.

The ladies then dispensed supper after which a few musical items were enjoyed the evening ending with the National Anthem.
