The vessel and cargo were insured for £150,000. THE WESTRALIA. HOBART, This Day. News of the Westralia’s mishap arrived by wireless late last night. The message stated tho steamer Loongana was sixty miles out from Laupcfstop when she received the call for assistance and she immediately proceeded to the Westralia’s aid. She expected to reach the scene of the mishap at three this morning.

Ap action has been commenced .n which. Alfred Ozanne formerly member for 'Corio in the House of Representatives, is claiming £5,000' for alleged libel from the newspaper “Geelong Advertiser.” Plaintiff stated that action was taken as the result of three articles published in tho 1917 federal election campaign, which he considered caused his defeat. Defence stated when the articlos were published, Mr Hughes issued a message received from General Bird wood embodying a report by General Monasli oil the conduct of plaintiff, who was then a Sergt. of the A.T.F., which stated ho was eltsent without leave and was struck off the - strength, on theoeve of going to France. Monasli giving evidence said Ozanne spoilt Die record of the third Division as he was the only man absent without leave out of twenty thousand. He recommended that Ozanne be court martial led, but this was not done,

Air Storey referring to criticism of the Labour Council and Employers Federation said the new Government intended to carry out tlieir policy, insp’ctive of outside critics. It would not accept dictation from the Employers Federation nor Labour Council.
