aground. The exact position was not iscertainable through a strong static interference, but it is presumed the ship is in the vicinity of Bass Strait, flic s.s. Loongana is already hurrying :o the ship’s assistance and a destroys vas to leave immediately steam w,t.> ivailable. From observations up till
seven o’clock this morning it would appear there is no immediate danger to the vessel and the position seems well in hand. ASHORE AT CLARK ISLAND. DUNEDIN, This Day. Information has been received that the steamer Westralia which left Bluff ast Saturday evening for Melbourne lircct with a full complement of passengers is ashore on Clark Island, bewcen Flinder’s Island and the mainmid of Tasmania. The Loongana has ;ono to her assistance.
