A BOTTLE’S WANDERINGS'. WELLINGTON, Tins Day. While the troopship No 60, with the loth Reinforcements ion board, was making the voyage from Wellington to England, a bottle containing letters was thrown overboard south of Tasmania. After drifting for 3} years,
the bottle was picked up by natives of New Hebrides and given to a missionary who forwarded the contents to Wellington. One of the letters states the boys on troopship 60 are all doing well, considering the rough passage. They have had everything first-class. The 15th N.Z.F.A. are “Pie on,” especially those of Hut 179, Gunner E. S., White, Gunner J. E. Tunnington, Gunner W. Page. New Hebrides are between 2,000 and 2,500 miles from the point at which the hottle was thrown overboard from the troopship.
JOCKEYS DISPUTE. AUCKLAND, This Day. Auckland watersiders have decided to support the Jockeys in their-dispute with Avondale Jockey Club.
A FISH YARN. TAURANGA, This Day. The natives of Motiti Island report while fishing on Sunday to the north of Die Island they caught- several schnapper, all of which contained maize anfi grain. Careful enquiries made, go to confirm the statement, and the surmise is that the maize is from the missing scow KaJiu. Either the vessel herself or stray sacks were washed over and jettisoned as none was lost during the loading.
