At Greymouth yesterday there was a representative meeting of citizens heid jn flip Council Chambers, presided over h y his Worship the Mayor (Mr J. D. Lynch), The meeting was called at the ropiest of the Canterbury Progress League, and was attended hy Mr Climie, organiser. After hearing the. lattor it, was resolved that a committee r bo formed to draw up the League’s constitution and that a report he presented to a meeting called hy the Mayor in a month’s time.

By the death of Mr Felix Restano of Rimu, which took place at Westland Hospital this afternoon, the distr ct loses one of its most worthy pioneers, one whom'it was a pleasure to know, and who had won tho appreciation and

respect of all who knew him. He was n <"jk native of Italy and a single man, and, ' had followed mining pursuits from the early days. Ho settled down at Rimu at the time of the rush there and has been a respected resident there, ever , since. He took a keen interest in public affairs, and won a wide circle of friends by his manly straight forward /' genial nature. The district has lost a good citizen by his demise, which has taken place after a lengthy illness. He was born near Genoa in Italy and had reached a ripe age. The deceased has bequeathed £IOO to the funds of Westland Hospital,
