The most deplorable feature of the outrages was the existence of such a widespread plot, without the authorities slightest foreknowledge. Hie raids were carried out simultaneously throughout the country, incendiarism in every instance escaping detection. The ‘lrish Times” commenting on the outrages, says the Government is being rudely and swiftly snatched from the English. . “Freeman’s Journal” says patience and brains are already more than a match for bayonets and barricades and more memorable triumphs are not likely to be long, delayed.
