HOKITIKA HARBOUR BOARD

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 31st, 1920. The ordinary monthly meeting of the above Board took place yesterday at ;j p in. Present—Messrs It. Wild (chairman), C. J. Nightingale, J. J. Breeze, J. J. Macintosh and G. H. Chapman.

From Tourist Department, regarding application for grant of .£3OO to provide road access above the Creek falls at Mahinapua, stating the Department has not at present any appropriations i for roads in this district, but have noted request for consideration when Estimates are being framed for next year. —Received. From Inspector. Machinery, re condition of boiler and winch, noting few small repairs necessary.—Received. ,

! From I). Feeney and Party, accepti ing terms to hire boiler and winch. — Received. After discussion the Board passed a. motion laying out conditions on which the plant was to bo leased. From Kokatalii Sawmill Company, | asking for space to erect timber skids. j Received. To be advised that no • space is at present available. I Tt was resolved to ask for rental from Lands Department, revenue derived | from islands within the harbour limits.

The resignation of F. W. Brown, Clerk and Rato Collector, was received and accepted with regret. It was decided to leave the position open for a few days, a. meeting of town members to bo called later to deal with the appointment of a successor. Accounts amounting to £3B 19s 9d were passed for payment. Receipts for the month totalled £IBB 16s sd.—Received. The meeting then adjourned.
