LATE LOCALS

Mr I. Faris of the New Zealand Railways is in town to-day making arrangements for the accommodation of the staff and officials in connection with tlie Royal visit. The whole party will be a large one, larger than was originally expected ,and numbering upwards of one hundred people. Tlie acconmiontion of the Prince and suite has been secured at Keller’s hotel, while the remainder of the staff, Ministers of tho Crown and staff, and will he lodged at the Red Lion Hotel, where Mr and Mrs Mclntosh will make special arrangements to accommodate a large party. Admiral Halsey, formerly of TT.M.S. New Zealand, is the Chief of the Prince’s personal stuff. The occasion will lie a very notable one in the history of Westland.

1 Two ordnance guns which were captured by the New Zealanders from tho German forces have arrived here, ami are to be placed as war trophies in front of the Public Buildings. The : guns have been sent in response tq qn j application by the Westland Chamber . of Commerce which has asked also that the trophies he placed in position prior to the visit of the Prince of Wales who will meet the children in front of the 1 building on the morning of May 13th. Tlie Government lins given very prompt attention to the request of the local Chamber, which was preferred through the good offices of Mr Seddon M.P. to the Acting Minister of Defence, Hon. j. G. Coates. Tho guns have been the object of much public interest since their arrival here.
