AN INQUEST. PALMERSTON N., This Day

The Coronial inquiry opened to-day concerning the circumstances under which Mary Etheline Weblev, a married woinan, met Tier death, the body having been found with her throat cut on Thursday morning last, in an un- ; formed street between Fitzroy and Rua j bine streets. The medical evidence shows a deep transverse incision across the [ neck extending from a point two inches I below the left ear, to a point three inches below the right ear. At the left . extremity was found two jagged cuts and at the right extremity, one jagged cut. The abdominal organs were quite healthy and there were no other marks on the body. Considerable force was used to effect the injury. It was thought possible to have been self-in-flicted, but the absence of any instrument would preclude this theory. Con siderable evidence was given by witnesses who saw the deceased during the day preceeding. Further evidence was given by Percy Daniel Wills ,of seeing deceased in the company of a man near where the body was found, on the evening proceed ing the tragedy. Next morning when proceeding to milk his cows, Wills found the deceased’s body, and informed the police. At this stage the inquest was adjourned to Tuesday next.
