To-morrow (Wednesday) evening, Pollards will present in the Princess Theatre the stirring Essanay drama, “The Man Who Was Afraid,” starring Bryant Washburn as the man who, was tied to his mother's apron strings though himself afraid until the love of a girl brought out his inherent and he proved himself "when his chance came. The drama is a sterling and thrilling one, and the hero's trip through the enemy’s lines forms a series of adventures and hairbreadth escapes. The 10th. episode of “The Lightning Raiders” supports the star picture. The military scenes of the play “The Man Who Was Afraid” arc laid in Mexico, and the motor trip through the enemy’s lines is one of the most sensational ever seen on a screen.

ST .JOHN AMBULANCE BENEFIT, TO-NIGHT. Mr McLean is giving a benefit entertainment for St John Ambulance this Tuesday evening- when the special feature will be “Kildare of Storm,” with Emily Stevens in the leading role. “Kildare of Storm” is a vital photodrama., pulsating with life and vigor. Kate Kildare has great problems to face—her sorrows and joys are dynamic and elemental, and no other actress could have portrayed Kate so wonderfully as Emily Stevens has done. “Kildnro of Storm” is placed in a Southern setting. Basil Kildare is owner of one of those great old estates whose master’s word is law, and he rules with an iron hand. In the darkness of storm comes love, like a lightning flash, striking as it illumines. How tragedy comes to Kate before the haven of heart’s desiro is attained is wonderfully and dramatically told in this feature screen romance, which calls forth all the power of Emily Stevens’ splendid ability. “Kildare of' Storm” is a play to remember. A fine supporting programme wiH also be given .
