LATE LOCALS,
On Tuesday, April 6th, thp Hokitika Boxing Association will hold another of their popular- gatherings. Oil this occasion the contests will comprise a 15-
rounds bout at light-weight, between Frank O’Neill of ltunnnga aud Gns Venn of Auckland. Also a special sixround bout between Joe Garvey of Runniign. and Harry Long of Blackball. According to tlie “ British Australasian ” there is a general feeling that tlie next Governor General should be Lord Strathspey, New Zealand’s one and only lord, who was horn in the Dominion, and lias always been keenly interested in its development. The tit.o came to Lord Strathspey’s family when liis father was in New Zealand. Union Strathspey himself was born at Oamaru, and is the second ison of the tenth Ear!
of Seafieid. He was educated at With taki High School and St. John’s College. Ho married a daughter of the late Mr T M. Hardy-Johnson M.T.C.E., Loud., of Christchurch, and there is a son and daughter by tlie marriage. The opinion is generally expressed that po «»UP« could bo more heartily welcomed tc Government House than Lord and Ladj ■j Strathspey.”
